is committed to the idea that yarn should not only look beautiful, it should be borne out of a beautiful idea.
Our shelves are brimming with nature’s warmest, finest and softest fibers. You’ll find earth friendly cotton and minimally processed wool. You’ll also find yarns that provide income and education to poverty stricken communities around the world. And beautifully hand-dyed artisan yarns in a variety of weights and fibers. So if you’re looking for yarns that will make you feel good–inside and out–you’ve come to the right place.
At String Theory
we believe that everything is connected to everything else; somehow what we do here in our small circle has both personal and global impact. That’s why we feature yarn from companies that provide an opportunity for impoverished women to feed their families and send their children to school. That’s why we support companies that limit their use of harmful chemicals, precious water and petroleum. That’s why we sit and knit.
We Love Color
(and supporting artists), so you’ll find an assortment of hand painted yarns from Malabrigo, Madelinetosh, Abstract Fiber, Miss Babs, Pagewood Farm, Manos del Uruguay, Misti Alpaca, String Theory Yarn or Mountain Colors. They arrive serendipitously and disappear quickly. Other yarns come from organic fields of cotton, women’s cooperatives in South Africa and a ranch in Oregon.
