As part of our Anniversary Hoopla, I’m revisiting old patterns and making them in new yarns. This first one holds a very special place in my heart because it was designed by my son Adam when he was ten years old.
Our customers have made hundreds of these hats. They have been the hit of many baby showers. This is probably the most popular project in our history.
Several years ago, we decided that we could no longer support the company that made the yarn used in the original hat. I was heartbroken. Since then, I’ve been looking for a substitute, a cotton yarn with stretch, in good colors. Finally, I decided to make my own. We arranged to hand dye a cotton, bamboo, silk and nylon blend and called it Synergy.
I’ve tweaked the pattern a little and it works perfectly! Two skeins will make four hats. (It is always good to have extras on hand.)

Remember, Adam made this when he was 10, so I’m sure you can do it.
