Pascuali's Balayage yarn was developed based on a concept: to create a high-quality yarn colors that provide unlimited creative options and flow harmoniously into one another. The unique nature of the yarn, i.e. the mixture of white organic merino wool fibers with white and grey baby alpaca wool, creates a mottled grey tone (color 617 Ishinca). The color gradient effect is supported within the individual threads and very natural color accents along the lines of hand dyeing techniques.
This yarn is excellent for shawls or any other knitting project too, and is particularly well suited to color techniques such as jacquard or Fair Isle. Well-known designer Melanie Berg, also known as Mairlynd, contributed to the development of this yarn concept from the beginning.
Why did Pascuali call it Balayage? The term comes from the hairdressing industry and refers to a hair coloring technique in which a particular color gradient is achieved on the hair. This color gradient principle embodies the colors of Balayage. Color groups of four colors are designed to work together and can be combined with colors from the other groups to achieve a contrast. The colors are inspired by the variety of colors in Peru and are named after places in Peru.

I love this yarn! I cast on for a hat, per the suggestion on Shopcast live, and was amazed by the touch of this yarn! It is SO soft, yet no pilling and by knitting with two strands held together, it's firm enough to hold it's share (some alpaca fingering weights are a little too drapey for my taste). Highly recommend!
