Description: Flat socks?! Yes, we will learn how to knit socks that are knit flat. This knit flat sock is perfect for first-time sock knitters and is a game changer for experienced sock knitters. Working back and forth on two straight needles, you will learn how to create a join-friendly selvedge, work shadow wrap short rows, join-as-you-go seams, and a bifurcated heel for a better fit.
Holli Yeoh is an amazing instructor and we are so excited to have her teach for us. Maybe you've shied away from knitting socks because of knitting in the round in a small diameter. These socks take that issue away. Did you ever think you could knit socks flat that are this flattering and well fitting? Learning new way of knitting things is always fun and I guarantee that this class will not disappoint.
This workshop sock fits a small child. You will learn how to knit these socks and then will be able to knit them on your own in your own size.
Pattern is included with this class.
Supplies:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in 2 colors;
- MC (instep) 30 yd (25 m);
- CC (heel/toe/sole) 75 yd (70 m).
- Yardage is enough for a pair of socks
- Needles + Notions
- 3.5 mm (US 4) needle(s) for working flat,
- Choice of two dpn, circular, or straight needles, or size to obtain gauge.
- 8 locking stitch markers;
- 2 stitch markers;
- Your usual knitter's notions like measuring tape, scissors, and tapestry needle.
- Gauge 24 sts and 34 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Stocking Stitch after blocking
Homework: No homework prior to the first class except for having your supplies ready. There will be homework between the first and second class.
