Newish Knitter KAL - October -  Fresnel Hat by Bristol Ivy

Date(s): October 2, 9 and 16

Time: 7:00-8:30pm-ish

Location: The comfort of your own location - this is a zoom class

Instructor: Liz Daly

Description:
Our Newish Knitter KAL is for knitters who have finished Knit101 and Knit 102 and are wondering what to knit next.  All of these patterns are great places to practice your stitches and learn how to read patterns.  This KAL is also for more experienced knitters who want to socialize with others while knitting a project where you can knit and chat at the same time.

In October we are knitting the Fresnel hat by Bristol Ivy.  This had has a great textural design on one side.  We will go over hat making and chart reading during this KAL.  Don't worry if you don't do charts, I have some tips for you and if you still don't like charts this pattern is also written out.

There is no charge for this virtual get-together, however, we ask that you purchase yarn from the store for this project.    When you purchase your yarn write in the comments section that you would like to be added to the KAL!   Don't worry if you can't make all of the sessions.  We'd love to have you when you can make it.

Supplies:

  • Purchase and download the Fresnel Hat by Bristol Ivy.
  • US 7 16" circular needle and US 7 DPNs and a US 5 16" circular needle for the hat brim.  These needle sizes are always best approximations.  They may need to be adjusted based on the yarn you are using and how you typically knit (tight knitter or loose knitter).
  • We are recommending 1 skein of Mota in a solid color.  Mota has some great marled yarn  but this color may hide the textural pattern.  You could use any worsted weight yarn or heavy DK weight too.
  • Basic knitting supplies

Homework: Have your yarn and needles ready.

Prerequisites: Be comfortable knitting and purling
