Quick gifts you can make this weekend

By Janet

I love having a go-to list of quickly made projects. I usually keep a bundle of projects in my Ravelry account so I can find ideas fast when I need them.

Hats are at the very top of my list. I have a bin of hats so I can match them to fit the weather and to pair with my outfit.

Stalactite by Marie Greene

Celtic Winters Slouchy Hat by Megan Meyers

Of course, mittens are at the top of my quick gift list. You cannot go wrong with Chibi Paka because it is so soft, combining alpaca with superwash wool. Our mitten suggestions for both knit and crochet projects use a few colors so you can have fun picking your combination.

Plaid Mittens by Bethany Dearden

If you are looking for mittens that aren't too thick you can choose a color of Laneras Deseos DK or any of our other wool DK weight yarns for these knitted mittens.  For the crocheted set we are suggesting Ewetopia Sustainawool. Don't forget that the more "woolly" wools are worn and loved the more they soften up.

Riley Knit-Look Mittens by Adriana M

A matched set of hat and mitts make a great gift. We've selected this matching hat and mitts to knit and a crocheted hat for quick projects.

Kiskadee by Quinn Reverendo

Rising Ridges Beanie by Cassie Reed-Chavez

I always find it so comforting to slip into a pair of cozy slippers when the weather turns cold.

Glorious Slipper Socks by Sarah Keller

Crocheters could make Slipper Socks by Dora Ohrenstein, in a durable fingering weight yarn, like West Yorkshire Spinners' sock yarn.

The last idea for people looking for a quick kid or baby gift are these adorable bear hats that can either be knit or crocheted. Created with bulky Chibi Paka yarn, they work up quicklly and are so soft for the little ones in your life.

And finally - if you have completely run out of time to make a gift, don't forget all of the earth friendly gifts that we have in store for you.
