Make the Most of Your Interchangeable Needle Set
If you have an Interchangeable Needle Set, we want to make sure that you are making the most of it.
Our Favorite Interchangeable Tricks
🧶 To make your stockinette stitch look stunning, put a size 7 tip (for example) on one end of your cord and a size 6 tip on the other. Knit with the 7 and purl with the 6. Most people purl more loosely, so going down a size evens out your stitches.
🧶 If you are knitting in the round, putting a smaller needle on one end makes your stitches slide off effortlessly and doesn't impact your gauge at all.
🧶 If you are worried about TSA taking your needles, you can replace the tips with stoppers and put your tips in with your pens and pencils while you go through security.
🧶 If you’re knitting lace or cables or anything where it is tricky to rip rows out, you might want to insert a "lifeline". Thread in a piece of scrap yarn through the connector hole on your interchangeable needle’s cable and knit the row. A lifeline runs through every stitch without hunting for a tapestry needle.
🧶 If you are using "two circulars" instead of double pointed needles, you need two circulars of the same size. Select two cords put one of the size 7 needle tips (for example)on each cord. Put a size 6 tip on the other end — using the size 7 as the working needle and the other as the “holding” needle.
