Five Tips for Creating an Advent Box for Knitters and Crocheters
I imagine that some of you have enough mini skeins to put together your own advent box. So I thought I would share some tips:
- Buy your envelopes first and then select a box. Make sure the box will contain all 31 envelopes. This gives you a size constraint for your goodies, but will make the experience more manageable overall.
- Spread out the yarn. It is actually overwhelming to receive yarn everyday. Life is already overwhelming enough.
- Treat yourself with things that make you smile: a favorite card or saying, a piece of chocolate or your favorite snack, a new gadget you've had your eye on, an old photograph, some delicious tea....
- Include a printed pattern and the needles or hook you'll need. Decide now what your advent project will be (you have enough decisions to make in December). Here are some ideas.
- Find a buddy. Make a box for them and they can make yours. Anticipation is a powerful emotion. Studies show that anticipation can boost your mood and relieve anxiety and depression. Simply said, the whole opening experience will be more fun, if you don't know what you're getting.
