Description: This is a project-based class to make a Wriley scarf or shawl. Wriley uses a reversible cable pattern on a checkerboard ground to create an unusual undulating wave pattern. Wriley uses cables, is a reversible pattern, and has a beautiful tubular edges, and all these techniques will be discussed in class. You will be ready to cast on right after class.
Supplies:
- Basic knitting kit
- A cable needle
- 1 ball of solid-color yarn and appropriate needles for swatching
- The pattern will be included in the class and emailed along with the zoom link.
AFTER CLASS
- To make a Wriley, about 1300 yards of sport weight yarn is needed. The sample is worked holdingtwo strands together to make a sport weight: one strand is ITO Kinu and one strand is ITO Sensai. Approximately 3 cones of Kinu and 5 balls of Sensai. The colors of the two yarns should be close or the marl will hide the stitch pattern. The sample is worked with both yarns in color Angora.
