Once, about 16 years ago, I was dashing from the grocery store to my car with my 3-month old baby in a carrier, snug against my body, tucked inside my winter coat. It might have been November, and it was getting dark, and because I was working on about four hours of sleep, I did not have a baby hat with me.

Now that I’ve been quilting - and knitting - long enough, I have lots of scraps of fabric – and of yarn – and I have found I really like scrap projects, no matter the medium. I like using up an entire ball of yarn or piece of fabric, and I like trying out different color combinations.

My friend Rachel is visiting from Scotland, and we are heading to dance and music camp together. It’s a long drive to get there, so you know what that means - trip knitalong! We’ve done these before on long visits, and they’re always a lot of fun, plus a great souvenir.
