Earth Friendly Yarn Options at String Theory
Every day is Earth Day at String Theory. When we choose which yarns to carry, we consider their impact on the environment. We look for natural fibers without added acrylic (made from pertroleum) and organic cottons that protect water supply (because they weren't grown with pesticides). We look for products made by companies that care about sustainability.
Handspun Hope - these yarns are spun by hand (no fuel guzzling machines) and primarily dyed with plants that are commonly found in Rwanda.
Remix Light - made from a blend of 100% recycled fibers: 30% Nylon, 27% Cotton, 24% Acrylic, 10% Silk, 9% Linen
Uneek Worsted - each skein we buy from Urth Yarns plants a tree in Africa
Laneras Beartooth - this yarn is processed in a mill that is carbon negative.
Appalachian Baby Kits - the cotton in these kits is from sustainable family-owned cotton farms and family mills in the United States.
Other earth friendly cottons include: Clean Cotton made from recycled cotton and recycled polyester, Dungarees made from recycled jeans, and Spud&Chloe Sweater
