By purchasing yarn from String Theory, you’re lifting up a number of small and female-owned businesses. We help women in Rwanda, who survived the genocide, educate a new generation. We help women in Uruguay find meaningful work without leaving their rural homes. We help a family in New Hampshire maintain a mill, a tradition spanning hundreds of years. We help restore the Patagonia Grasslands by encouraging sustainable farming.Every yarn we stock makes a positive impact.
Check the Box pattern
This pattern was designed for the Chicago Yarn Crawl 2024. 2024 Yarn kits for this cowl are available here.
Every year during the Yarn Crawl, we highlight a yarn company that exemplifies who we are and what we believe in. Plied Yarns is a small woman-owned business. The yarn is spun and plied at a family-owned mill in Harrisville, PA and dyed by sisters in Baltimore, MD.
This year, an election year, we hope that you will check the box and vote.
Intarsia is so much easier than you would think. You can do it!
Favorite Instarsia Tips:
- Remember: “old yarn over new yarn, on the WS of your work”
- If you forget to catch your yarn when you change colors, you can easily repair this afterward when you weave in your ends.
I’ve created a technique video for this pattern on our YouTube Channel.
