By purchasing yarn from String Theory, you’re lifting up a number of small and female-owned businesses. We help women in Rwanda, who survived the genocide, educate a new generation. We help women in Uruguay find meaningful work without leaving their rural homes. We help a family in New Hampshire maintain a mill, a tradition spanning hundreds of years. We help restore the Patagonia Grasslands by encouraging sustainable farming.Every yarn we stock makes a positive impact.
Mota
Mota is a lofty 3 ply, with a strong twist for durability. Because of the loft, Mota can be used in patterns that call for DK, Worsted, Aran and maybe even Chunky weight yarns.
The colors and the tooth of the yarn make it ideal for colorwork.
The new Marl colors are limited edition. It is difficult to tell from the photos, but BBN is medium brown and GBN is darker brown.

Mota is sourced and manufactured entirely in the heart of Castilla- La Mancha. Thanks to the proximity of the farms to our mill, Mota is produced with one of the smallest carbon footprints on the market!
With the aim to support small Spanish farms, Mota was developed as a collaboration with several ranching families, each contributing the finest wool their flocks had to offer in order to produce this very special yarn.
