This pattern was designed for the Chicago Yarn Crawl 2022.

Every year during the Yarn Crawl, we highlight a yarn company that exemplifies who we are and what we believe at String Theory. This year, we want you to take a closer look at Manos del Uruguay, a fair trade organization that is more than 50 years old.

“40 years don’t seem like much, but it was a really different time then. Women didn’t have their own incomes, the husband was the one working. This job took the women out of their homes and made them function individually. We grew up and found aptitudes we hadn’t imagined we had. It was a revolution.
– Elisabeth Sosa, artisan and former President of Manos board.

These mitts are worked with two strands throughout. They start and end with two strands of Fino. The middle is done with a strand of Fino and a strand of Cabrito.

The pattern was written for two sizes but is easily adapted. Notes for making a bigger size are included in the pattern.

Note: The kit that matches the knitted sample is sold out.

Kit includes:

  • one skein of Manos del Uruguay Fino
  • one skein of Manos del Uruguay Cabrito
  • free Revolution Mitts pattern (pattern sent automatically when purchased online)

You will also need US#3 needles: DPNs, Flexi-Flips, two circulars, or magic loop

Revolution Mitts

These are the prettiest mitts. I have made two sets for gifts and I know they will be loved. The combination of Manos Milo and Cabrito make for a so soft and warm mitt. . They are really lovely. Janet’s pattern is very well written and fun to do. You, too, will love the Revolution Mitts.
