Good Coffee - SOLD OUT until next harvest!
Good Coffee is grown on Janet's farm in Colombia and roasted at the Coffee Lab at North Central College. It is a custom blend of two types of beans: Tabi (a word that means good in an indigenous Colombian language) and Geisha (currently one of the best-tasting and most expensive beans in the world). The result is a medium roast with notes of chocolate, passion fruit, and a bit of spice.

100% single origin Arabica coffee sourced from the Atitlán region of Guatemala. Shade-grown in rich volcanic soil, our coffee is produced and harvested at an ideal altitude of 5,200-6,000 ft. Roasted at a medium, or dark level, this coffee has tasting notes of cocoa, citrus, peach, berries, slight floral, and caramel.
More than just the science of coffee
While the project originated through work by students in North Central’s chapter of Enactus, an organization promoting social justice through entrepreneurship, the Coffee Lab connects with students from numerous disciplines, which makes North Central’s Coffee Lab the most far-reaching of its kind.
Impact: This coffee comes from a local state-of-the-art roastery and research laboratory dedicated to studying the craft of the coffee industry, located at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
Students run the day to day operations with oversight from the advisors. This includes everything from designing product labels to packaging coffee to holding tastings across campus. In addition, students collaborate with other departments across campus on new innovative initiatives such as the viability of utilizing coffee grounds for water filtration and engineering a vacuum pump device to remove the physical limitations from the roaster’s job.
The impact on these students is long-lasting. They leave with not only new and expanded skills and increased passion for making a difference, but a better understanding of how to be a socially responsible leader. Students have gone on to start their own social enterprises, serve in the Peace Corps, and be leaders in their corporate community.
