Description:
This class is recommended for knitters who want to gain more confidence in using Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) or circular needles (which are simply longer, floppy, dpns).
If you have ever tried knitting with DPNs and have experienced difficulties or would simply like to try some new ideas, this is your chance.
Discover how to:
- cast on without twists,
- slip stitches at high speed,
- keep track of your stitches and
- work without ladders at the corners
- make I-cord and other uses of DPNs
Lucy will discuss the many types of needles available and how they might suit your knitting style. If there is time, we will practice using one long or two circular needles in addition to (or instead of) straight DPNs.
Supplies:
- 20 grams worsted weight yarn (4-6 sts per inch) in two colors.
- A set of 5 DPNs in a size to suit your yarn, US 6 or US 7.
- Optional - two circular needles of a similar size one of any length, the other at least 40 inches long.
- The usual knitting paraphernalia.

Background
Lucy has been an adventurous knitter since she was 17. She is originally from the UK, where she was a navigating officer in the Merchant Navy. She has lived in Nova Scotia for the last 33 years. The Fleece Artist yarn store in Halifax gave her the opportunity to teach classes (30+ years ago) and she discovered her passion for sharing the engineering marvels of knitting. She has not stopped spreading the joy of Happy Stitches since! She is known almost as much for her taste in colour as for her friendly, detailed, technique-rich knitting patterns, and her particular fondness for double-layer knitting.
