Newish Knitter KAL - Herald Shawl by Janina Kaillo

Dates: June 3, 10 and 17

Time: 7:00-8:30pm-ish

Location: The comfort of your own location - this is a zoom class

Instructor: Liz Daly

Description:

In June we are going to knit a staple of mine, the Herald Shawl by Janina Kaillo.  This shawl is a staple of mine because it drapes so nicely, it's' such a great shape which makes it very wearable and one skein of fingering weight yarn really goes a long way with this shawl.  The goal for this month is to have very little leftover yarn as you continue with the pattern until you run out of yarn.

My name is Liz Daly and I host the Newish Knitter KAL (NKKAL) the first 3 Wednesdays of every month.  This KAL started back in 2020 when we realized that we needed to connect to our customers in a different way.  The original plan was for this group to assist knitters who had completed our Knit 101 and Knit 102 classes continue knitting but it has turned into a monthly group of knitters of all levels (beginner to expert)  from across the USA who meet monthly to work on projects together which are the perfect social knitting projects.  Join us for a month or two and I guarantee you will be more confident knitter.  Our Newish Knitter KAL is for knitters who have finished Knit 101 and Knit 102 and are wondering what to knit next.  All of these patterns are great places to practice your stitches and learn how to read patterns.  This KAL is also for more experienced knitters who want to socialize with others while knitting a project where you can knit and chat at the same time.

Supplies:

  • Please purchase and download the pattern Herald by Janina Kaillo from Ravelry
  • Needles 32" US 6 if you are using fingering weight yarn.  If you decide to use another weight of yarn, adjust your needle size accordingly.
  • We are recommending one skein of Beartooth High Twist - You can use any fingering weight or even sportweight yarn you would like. This pattern is very flexible.
  • Needle sizes shown are guides

Homework: Have your yarn and needles ready.

Prerequisites: Be comfortable knitting and purling.
