Description: Interested in steeking, but the thought of taking scissors to your knitting sends shivers down your spine? We’ll learn how to secure and cut our knitting 4 different ways with ease on swatches before you tackle that sweater pattern you’ve had your eye on! You’ll learn the single crochet method (no crochet experience necessary), the backstitch method, the needle felting method, and the sewing machine method.
Prerequisite: Must have taken a stranded colowork class with Tanis or be comfortable knitting in colowork
Skills Covered: steeking 4 different methods, button bands, securing fringes, and adding steeks to any pullover
Supplies:
4 Completed Swatches in 100% wool (see homework chart above. Only make 3 if you plan on only watching the sewing machine technique)
• Tapestry Needle
• 20yds/18m Fingering-Weight Wool (100% wool – no superwash)
• Sharp Scissors
• Size F Crochet Hook
• US 5 (3.75mm) & US 7 (4.5mm) Needles (use the ones you used for the homework)
• 10-15 Removable Stitch Markers
• Sewing Machine (unless you are only watching the sewing machine techique)
Homework: Completed swatches for homework are a must for this workshop! You will not be able to steek in class without them. The swatches are knit in a small circumference, so use whichever method you are comfortable with – DPNs, 2 circulars, or magic loop. Swatches should be knit in 2 shades highly contrasting worsted weight. If you wish, use different color combinations to mix it up!
CO 45 sts with US 5 (3.75mm) needles. Join into round being careful not to twist, pm for bor. Work [knit 1 round, purl 1 round] three times. Switch to US 7 needles and work rounds 1-25 of chart. Switch to smaller needles and work [knit 1 round, purl 1 round] three times. BO knitwise.
Chart for homework will be emailed out after signing up for the class.

Domestic packages are shipped with an $8.95 flat rate. For orders over $100, the rate will be 10 cents(a little crazy, but true!)
We are no longer able to ship internationally.

RETURNS
Unused items in their original condition and packaging can be returned for store credit within 6 months of purchase.
No returns or exchanges are available for sale items, trunk show purchases, shipping charges, preorders, or jewelry.

If String Theory cancels the class for any reason, we will refund your registration fee. If you are able to cancel at least one week prior to your scheduled class, you will receive a store credit for your registration fee. If you cancel less than a week prior to the class, you will receive store credit only if we are able to fill your spot. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide class make-ups.

Annual members can cancel anytime within the first 30 days for a refund, minus a $25 cancellation fee. After 30 days there are no refunds on annual plans. Monthly subscribers can cancel at any time.
