Community Member Spotlight!

Hi there, we're doing something new! Now you can get to know members of the String Theory Community through our monthly customer spotlight - It's one small way we can weave a stronger community of makers during challenging times. We ask the same five questions (plus a rapid-fire style THIS or THAT) each month to a different String Theory customer.

Want to be featured? Send an email to Emily: emily@stringtheoryyarncompany.com. If you use Facebook, join the String Theory Community. Up next is...

Waiting for Rain by Sylvia McFadden

How did you come to start knitting/crocheting/crafting

When I was younger I learned how to needlepoint and cross-stitch but I hadn’t kept anything up consistently. I have a friend who knits a lot, and from looking at her pictures on social media I got it in my head I should learn how to knit socks too! I bought a kit from the internet and knit a cowl.  Then I wandered into String Theory and have not looked back!

Breathe and Hope by Casapinka

What is your favorite event or memory from String Theory?

I sooooooo appreciate how kind and welcoming everyone is. I was nervous the first time I walked in (some imposter syndrome – “I am not a real knitter” “I don’t know what I am doing and I don’t know what even to ask” etc) – but everyone I have met through classes or just asking questions while I have been in the store have been so willing to help and help me pick yarn / plan projects / learn new skills. The community is wonderful.

What is one skill you'd like to learn?

I did my first colorwork project this winter – and I really liked it. I am kind of on a kick of looking for more colorwork projects.
