Beginning Weaving Workshop

Date(s): Sunday September 8

Time: 12:00pm-3:00pm Central Time

Location: String Theory Yarn Company

Instructor: Maggie

Description:  Learn how to use a four-harness loom and weave a piece of fabric that you can use to decorate your home or wardrobe. This drop-in class is ideal for beginners with absolutely no experience who want to learn how a loom works. Participants will learn to use a versatile and portable multi-harness loom, how to read a weaving pattern, and how color blending occurs in a weaving. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn! All materials are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own yarn to see what happens. Participants will be able to take home what they have woven during the workshop for future reference.

The workshop is taught by artist and designer Maggie Leininger who currently teaches at the Art School at DePaul University and is the owner of Considered Cloth, a retail outlet for unique luxury yarn, hand painted yarns, weaving equipment and instruction, and one-of-a-kind hand-wovens.

Supplies: All materials are included although you could bring some of your own yarn if you would like.  All of the looms are supplied for class.

Homework: none

Cost: $95
