Handpsun Hope Trunk Show
Sunday, August 1
12 - 4pm
at String Theory
Stop by to meet Jolene and learn the story behind Handspun Hope, an organization employing women in northern Rwanda who have overcome loss, marginalization and/or abandonment. Some are the lone providers for their large families. Many are living with HIV and most care for multiple children including those of deceased family members.
The women create gorgeous organic yarn from Handspun Hope's own flocks of Merino sheep and German Angora rabbits. The yarn is then dyed naturally with local vegetation like avocado pits, coreopsis flowers, and eucalyptus leaves.
We will have this beautiful yarn available for purchase and sample projects to inspire you.
Jolene is also bringing their entire selection of needle felted sculptures including animals, ornaments, and nativity sets. We will be taking orders for delivery in the fall. These make great gifts.
Allie Pleiter Book Reading (Sit & Knit)Wednesday, August 45:30 - 6:30pmat Lake Ellyn (15 min walk from String Theory)
Please join us for an hour of sitting (and knitting) under the trees.
Allie Pleiter will be reading from her brand new cozy mystery series: On Skein of Death. For Libby Beckett, opening her charming yarn shop, and introducing customers to the joys of knitting and crochet, is the work she was meant to do. Until the yarn she loves is used for murder….
Lake Ellyn is within walking distance of String Theory Yarn Co and
The Bookstore. There is also parking available right next to the lake. Come early so you have time to shop.
After the reading, Allie will answer questions. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
If it rains, we will gather inside String Theory Yarn Co. Masks will be required indoors.
