Newish Knitter KAL - Purl Pouch by Tori Yu

Date(s): April 10, 17 and 24

Time: 7:00-8:30pm-ish

Location: The comfort of your own location - this is a zoom class

Instructor: Liz Daly

Description:
Our Newish Knitter KAL is for knitters who have finished Knit101 and Knit 102 and are wondering what to knit next.  All of these patterns are great places to practice your stitches and learn how to read patterns.  This KAL is also for more experienced knitters who want to socialize with others while knitting a project where you can knit and chat at the same time.

In April we are meeting starting the SECOND week of the month not the first (it's my birthday).  We are going to knit the Purl Pouch by Tori Yu. You can knit more than garments for example this cute bag!  Liz knit the medium size which can easily fit 2 cakes of yarn, for sizing information.  The pattern has 3 different sizes.  Liz used 2 complimenting skeins of Dungarees yarn which is made with recycled jeans and has enough leftover for at least a small sized bag.  With this project you will learn i-cords, eyelets, folded over border and practicing knitting in the round.

There is no charge for this virtual get-together, however, we ask that you purchase yarn from the store for this project.    When you purchase your yarn write in the comments section that you would like to be added to the KAL!   Don't worry if you can't make all of the sessions.  We'd love to have you when you can make it.

Supplies:

  • 1-2 skeins of DK weight yarn.  We are recommending Dungarees
  • US 5 circular 16" or size appropriate for gauge and size of bag or and 1 set of 16" circular needles 1 size smaller than your main needles
  • 1 set of US 5 DPNs or size to match your circular needles
  • A stitch marker
  • A handi-tool (optional) or crochet hook (optional)

Homework: Purchase and download the pattern from Ravelry.

Prerequisites: Be comfortable knitting and purling

We help women in Uruguay find meaningful work without leaving their rural homes. We help a family in New Hampshire maintain a mill, a tradition spanning hundreds of years. We help restore the Patagonia Grasslands by encouraging sustainable farming.Every yarn we stock makes a positive impact.
